A IMAGO DEI E A DIGNIDADE DO SER HUMANO

Deus criou o ser humano, de modo que ele não é produto do acaso ou de acontecimentos fortuitos. Na base da realidade do ser humano está o fato de ter sido criado à “imagem e semelhança de Deus”. A imagem de Deus não é um atributo de sua natureza, mas é o homem integral. Esta imagem foi corrompida pelo pecado, mas não destruída. Portanto, cada pessoa tem em si esta centelha de dignidade e de nobreza e, como tal, cada pessoa deve ser tratada e valorizada. Ser “imagem de Deus” significa que Deus colocou o ser humano neste mundo como sua imagem para representá-lo e, em seu lugar, cuidar e administrar a criação. A imagem de Deus foi conferida, de acordo com o primeiro relato da criação, de forma igualitária ao homem e à mulher. Ambos foram colocados num mesmo patamar de valor e responsabilidade. No segundo relato da criação afirma-se que a mulher foi criada como “auxiliadora do homem”. Este texto tem sido erroneamente interpretado como se a mulher estivesse numa posição subordinada ao homem. Todavia esta interpretação é um erro logico e exegético. Entretanto, o texto de Paulo afirmando que o homem é a imagem e glória de Deus e a mulher é glória do homem (1Cor 11.7), causa dificuldades. Mas estas dificuldades são minimizadas considerando-se o contexto das palavras de Paulo e o fato de que ele afirmou que “no Senhor” uma nova realidade surgiu (1Cor 11.11).

The imago dei and the dignity of human beings
ABSTRACT
God has created the human being so that he is not the product of chance or random events. On the basis of human being reality lies the fact that it has been created “in the image and after the likeness of God”. The image of God is not an attribute of his nature, but is the holistic man. This image was corrupted by sin, but not destroyed. Therefore, each person has this condition of dignity and nobility and, consequently, each person should be treated and valued. To be an "image of God" means that God has placed the human being in this world as his image to represent him and, in his place, to care for and to manage the creation. The image of God was granted, according to the first account of creation, in an equal way to man and woman. Both were placed on the same level of value and responsibility. In the second account of creation it is affirmed that the woman was created as "helper of the man". This text has been wrongly interpreted as a woman in a subordinate position to the man. But this interpretation is a logical and exegetical error. However, the text of Paul affirming that man is the image and glory of God and woman is the glory of man (1 Cor 11:7), creates difficulties. But these difficulties are minimized by considering the context of Paul's words and the fact that he says that "in the Lord" a new reality arose (1 Cor 11:11).
