DIVÓRCIO E NOVO CASAMENTO NO ANTIGO TESTAMENTO (1): UMA ANÁLISE DE DEUTERONÔMIO 24.1-4

Resumo

Divórcio e novo casamento constitui um grande problema para a igreja atual. Isso se deve, em parte, pela falta de um estudo mais aprofundado sobre o assunto no contexto original da Bíblia. O presente artigo se propõe a analisar a proposta original de Deus para o casamento e a família e depois analisar o texto-chave a respeito de divórcio e novo casamento no AT, Deuteronômio 24.1-4. Esse texto contém expressões e ensinos não muito claros: o motivo do divórcio: “alguma coisa vergonhosa”; a possibilidade da pessoa divorciada se casar com um segundo marido, contudo, se na sequência também for divorciada deste (ou então este falecer), está proibida de retornar ao primeiro marido; a razão para esta proibição: ela foi contaminada; um eventual retorno para o primeiro marido “faz a terra pecar”. O artigo se propõe a lançar um pouco de luz sobre esses elementos na busca de mais clareza para o tema no AT, a base para o ensino de Jesus e da igreja primitiva sobre o assunto.

Divorce and remarriage in the Old Testament (1): a study of Deuteronomy 24.1-4.

ABSTRACT

Divorce and remarriage is a huge dilemma for the contemporary church. This is, in part, because we lack serious groundwork on this topic in its original biblical context. This article will analyze God”s original intent for marriage and family and then examine the key-text on divorce and remarriage in the OT, Deuteronomy 24.1-4. This text presents several enigmatic expressions and teachings: the reason for divorce: “something indecent”; the possibility for remarriage, however, if the wife is divorced again (or her second husband dies) she is not allowed to return to her first husband; the reason for this prohibition: she has been defiled: this return to the first husband brings “sin upon the land”. The attempt is to shed some light on these elements in search for a better understanding of this topic in the OT, the foundation for what Jesus and the early church taught about it.
